Sylvia Hankin

Sylvia began her study of percussion many years ago in her hometown of New Orleans with a student of the famous "Dr. Longhair." Since then she has specialized in ethnic percussion styles and has studied with Larry Levine in upstate New York and with Carlos Diaz, who teaches African and Brazilian styles of percussion. She has been performing in the Lake Charles area now for several years, appearing with Key West (with whom she has also recorded a CD), Tony Dupuis of E.T.A., and as half of her own duo, Gaia.
